On occasion some of the much sought after vintage Mortensen More Than Math kits can be found on eBay and Craigslist. Below are a couple of the vintage kits I was able to find and add to my collection.
The Number Discovery Kit is designed for ages 3 and up with puzzle fun in mind. An enjoyable way of combining playing and learning with the emphasis on the discovery process. Not only will the child have a great time putting all the numbers together but he or she will also be developing math oriented skills as a by product as well as recognition of the number symbols. This kit will teach hand eye coordination, color recognition, patterning, matching, counting, sequencing, addition facts, and subtraction facts.

The Multiplication Facts Tray will enable the student to understand and internalize the concepts of counting and skip counting which will automatically lead to the mastering of the multiplication facts. The kit is designed so that little help is needed – control of error is built in.
The kit contains all the multiplication facts starting from 1 times 1 up to 9 times 9. The correct answer is printed on the back of the cards. The multiplication unit bars representing the multiplication facts from 1 times 1 up to 9 times 9 are located in the nine slots in the tray. A card with the skip count sequence printed on it is located underneath the unit bars. The multiplication facts are located on the right side of each slot. The slots on the bottom of the tray are designed for placing the unit bars to find the answer in relation to the ten bars which are located in the slots directly above the work slots.

What was the original cost of a multiplication facts tray kit, and of the number discovery kit? Thanks.
Steven as far as I can tell from looking at old Mortensen Math papers I’ve acquired, the Multiplication Facts Kit cost $64.50 USD and the Number Discovery Kit cost $44 USD. Those might not be the original costs to purchase though as I am not entirely sure what date the price sheet I have came out.
