Imagine a World without Math

Today’s blog writing prompt is gratefulness. How does gratefulness relate to math? Let’s imagine a world without math. How would a world without math look? For one, you wouldn’t be reading this post right now. But it goes much deeper than that.

Math touches every part of our life, in no particular order:

  • hospitals
  • medicine
  • science
  • weather
  • forecasting
  • predictions
  • engineering
  • housing
  • cooking
  • clothing
  • infrastructure
  • transportation
  • directions
  • travel
  • time
  • calendars
  • birthdays
  • communications
  • computer algorithms
  • software
  • technology
  • internet
  • tech devices
  • electricity
  • electronics
  • banking
  • finances
  • money
  • capitalism
  • trade
  • economy
  • buying and selling
  • society
  • government
  • nature
  • gameplay
  • recreation
  • sports
  • music
  • comparisons
  • calculations
  • counting
  • measurement
  • problem-solving
  • space exploration

Is there any part of our life that math does not touch?

Math simplifies our lives and makes living life less complicated. Math helps us make sense of the world around us. Math is our world. Math allows us to engage with the world in a way that would not be possible without it.

For that, I am grateful.
